Calibration procedures: NOTE THIS CALIBRATION PROGRAM IS IN GALLONS, MILES PER HOUR AND PSI – NO METRIC VERSION IS AVAILABLE

  1. Grower: Complete your name (grower) (DOES NOT EFFECTIVE OUTCOME)

  2. Sprayer: if you have more than one sprayer , this identifies the one you calibrate in some way. (DOES NOT EFFECT OUTCOME)

  3. Sprayer boom: pick boom you have or at least the number of nozzles you wish to use. If you pick your boom, you may turn off the nozzles you do not wish to use and this will change the outcome. For Turbomist OH booms -13/7 or 13/6 turns off every other one. Perhaps you always use a set # of nozzles , you know which position you want them in, so you could chose that # nozzle boom.

  4. Core number: Here you must choose between seven (7) choices to pick the type of nozzles you will use . One of the following: 1.) Teejet disc/core with 25 swirls ( 2 holes). 2.) Teejet disc/core with 45 swirls (4 holes) ceramic) 3.) Mixed Teejet 25 and 45 swirls 4.) TXvk color coded hollow cone (small micron size droplets for superior coverage, generally under 100-150 gpa) 5.)Combo Txvk and ceramic in both 25/45 6.) Aitx Air induction nozzles (prevent drift with huge water droplet size) 7.) Combo of air induction and txvk color coded hollow cones. The choice of one of these seven will make available only that nozzle selection available from which you will chose your nozzles based upon your other input.

  5. Pressure: main variable to adjust, suggest you start around 125 psi (default) and allow the program to adjust up or down depending upon your other choices (Turbomist feel a good working pressure range is 80 to 180 psi. (If you use TXVK nozzles you can go as low as 40psi- for all other nozzles 80psi is a reasonable bottom range to work with.)

  6. Gallons per Acre: enter you desired coverage

  7. Miles per hour: Enter correct actual speed ( should really be determined by coverage- see owner’s manual)

  8. Tree spacing: if you like to count trees, you can chose to use this box, default is zero

  9. Row width: enter actual row width (program is not metric but it is free) that you are going to spray.

  10. Solve for: default is gallons per minute and will be used 98% of the time until you get to know the program

  1. Auto Calculate: This is the most critical choice-you will always pick either discs or GPM using selected discs & pressure (ones already In sprayer if you are buying new discs for this sprayer (often you should) you will chose Discs . If you wish to use your existing discs, or replace the same size because you like the pattern and the coverage with what you were using, then you will chose Gallons per minute using selected discs and pressure then enter the discs .

  2. The Optimize pressure choice is used after you have solved the choice, but the desired Gallons per minute in the colored section, is different from the calculated amount of GPM, that is by optimizing pressure you will get the calculated amount the closest to the desired amount needed. This is only a fine tuning to give you the best results.

You will note across the top of the table are the headers, Nozzle is the position top to bottom, Desired % is changeable by you and means the percentage of the total volume of spray you wish to get on that area of the target (tree) If you add up the desired % it should always come to 100%, if you change some % you will have to adjust others to keep the total at 100%

The next column is Calc. % - this is what the actual % output of the total is for the nozzle it or you chose. The actual normally differs somewhat from the desired, this is because of limited number of nozzles, the more nozzles the smaller each is and the closer the calculated will be to the desired.

The next column is the GPM this size nozzle will output at the pressure shown in the pressure box of the program, If you change that pressure it will change the GPM and the calculated % , maybe even the nozzle sizes.

The last column is the actual disc either chosen by the program or by yourself. Notice, you can change it as well , do so with caution because it will make many other changes, watch the color strip if it changes to yellow or red, you must make more adjustments to balance out the system.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, THE MORE YOU USE, THE BETTER YOU WILL GET AT IT, SOON YOU WILL BE COMFORTABLE MAKING NECESSARY CHANGES TO GET THE OUTCOME YOU DESIRE.
