Purchaser / Logistics Coordinator

General Responsibilities

Ensure Slimline has the right quality and quantity of inventory, purchased at the best possible price, and delivered at the specified time by the best approved vendor. Establishing and maintaining vendor relationships is paramount to your success. Also responsible for coordinating and procuring transportation providers to ensure prompt, cost-effective and secure movement of our inbound and outbound shipments.


  • Management and coordination of all purchasing activities
  • “Strategic inventory management, balancing and stock rotations”
  • Monitoring market trends relative to raw material costs, global markets, availability and lead times from suppliers or something along those lines
  • Monitor stock levels and verify purchase requisitions
  • Negotiate prices and contracts with various suppliers
  • Search available products to find the best combination of quality, price, terms and delivery
  • Maintain strong working relationships with our vendors
  • Plan and monitor expected deliveries and proactively follow up with vendors
  • Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communication with those vendors
  • Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems, trace shipments and follow up on undelivered goods
  • Work with Production and Parts departments to establish and control necessary inventory levels including safety stock levels

Logistics Coordinator

  • Procurement and maintenance of relationships with Slimline freight providers
  • Prepare accurate bills of lading and customs documentation
  • Track delivery status of all incoming supplier shipments
  • Coordinate and arrange shipping for outsourced services
  • Prepare any freight claims for lost or damaged shipments
  • Work with sales and production to coordinate all Slimline customer shipments
  • Notifying sales or production of any shipping issues or delays
  • Work with shipper/receiver on inventory storage
  • Ensure a healthy and efficient supply chain

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • Strong comprehension of purchasing procedures and policies
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Excellent Manufacturing, Industrial/agricultural parts and machinery knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience with Slimline products a definite asset
  • Inventory management experience and/or education
  • Logistics experience
  • Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and quantities
  • Ability to evaluate market conditions
  • Excellent attention to detail, organized
  • 3+ years’ experience in a purchasing role
  • Time management and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and be computer literate
  • ERP experience an asset
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and have a positive impact on the team
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
